Prayers of REST with Asheritah

Learn a pattern that can help you to pray.

prayer

Do you feel too busy to pray? You’re not alone. We all know that we should be praying more, and we genuinely try to make it happen. Everyone I know, including mature believers, often say they feel like they could improve their prayer life.

Today I’m really excited to talk to Asheritah Ciuciu, and she’s written a new book called Prayers of REST. It’s a series of prompts to help you hear God’s voice. She provides guided prayers that focus your mind and heart on Scripture.

Key Ideas

  • Our standing with God isn’t based on how well we’re doing in our prayer lives. It’s based on the sacrifice of Jesus.
  • We sometimes work hard for God but forget to spend time with God.
  • Jesus invites us not to a self-help program, to productivity, or to a streak of habits. He invites us to himself.
  • God knows our needs.
  • God invites us to spend our lives with him, not just to pray to him occasionally.
  • Prayers of REST invite us to Recite God’s goodness, Express our neediness, Seek his stillness, and Trust his faithfulness.
  • We can learn to pray using the REST acronym, and we can also help others to learn how to pray in the same way.

Quotes

“Prayer is the vehicle that allows us to come into God’s presence, and it’s all about that person and that relationship.”

“It is just our good God to take one of our lowest moments of weakness of saying, ‘I can’t do this,’ and make something beautiful out of it.”

“God loves you, and he loves you not for what you’re doing and what you’re accomplishing and how much you’re getting done. He loves you not because of your hustle or your accomplishments or your productivity or your attendance or membership numbers. God loves you because He created you and wants to be in a relationship with you.”

“He loves you for who He made you to be, not for what you can accomplish.”

“We can never exhaust learning because of our good God.”
